Profile Video: Live Prude Girls Stevie Nelson & Milana Vayntrub

Live Prude Girls | YouTubers | Stated Magazine Profile Video

By Jimmy Aquino, Pop Culture Contributing Editor

Live Prude Girls is a YouTube comedy team made up of actresses Stevie Nelson and Milana Vayntrub. From Hollywood (Stevie) to Uzbekistan (Milana), they now live in L.A. They are proper ladies so they don’t reveal their age, especially since they’ve been involved in the arts since they were embryos. Before becoming Internet famous, they worked in retail, the service industry, and as babysitters (they may or may not have fought over the same baby). Besides their hit web series, “Let’s Talk About Something More Interesting,” there are plans to do a live monthly show in L.A. Stevie’s miniature dachshunds, Paisley and Rocket, often co-star in their videos and Milana totally doesn’t covet them.

Stevie and Milana joined us for the video interview above, during which they answered our questions in their unique fashion, followed by a more…ahem…”serious” interview that follows below.

BEING
AN ARTIST
IS…?

STEVIE: …rewarding. It has its major ups and downs and is probably one of the most challenging jobs in the world for that reason, but it is so rewarding and SO worth it.

MILANA: …not waiting for permission to be an artist. And not talking about being an artist.

WHAT
ARE YOU
WORKING
ON TODAY?

STEVIE: Today I’m actually shooting headshots; that’s my other job besides acting.

MILANA: Today, I am writing a sketch about courting in the digital age called “How to Tweet Your Dick Pic”. I’m going to try it out on stage at UCB this week. If it works, then we’ll figure out a way to film that puppy.

WHAT
INFLUENCES
YOUR
WORK?

STEVIE:I think my everyday life experiences influence my work. Watching people. People watching. People stalking.

MILANA: My friends are hands down the strongest influencers of my work. Almost every idea I’ve developed has come from my shooting the shit and doing bits with my buddies. That’s one of the greatest things about doing comedy—dicking around is still work.

OF WHAT PROJECTS
ARE YOU
MOST
PROUD?

STEVIE: I’m most proud of “Let’s Talk About Something More Interesting” because it was our (mine and Milana’s) creative baby. I had never created something from the ground up before and I am so proud that people are even watching it. We made something we believed in and it actually worked.

MILANA: I’m really proud of our talk show, “Let’s Talk About Something More Interesting.” Although it doesn’t have crazy views, it’s got valuable viewers. There are people in the comedy community that I respect (and maybe even idolize in an unhealthy way) that have reached out to tell us how much they like it. And that blows my little mind.

WHAT’S
YOUR
DREAM
PROJECT?

STEVIE: I think the ultimate dream would be for one of our show ideas to become a TV show. How insane would that be? Hey, universe, I’d like that to happen, k?

MILANA: I’d love to make a movie. Write. Direct. Act. Edit. With my amazing partners. I don’t think we’re too far away from doing it. Over the past few months, I’ve been lucky enough to meet so many talented folks that I can’t wait to put to work. The team that has developed around me is insanely driven and fucking awesome. Now, all I have to do is write the movie.

TO WHOM
DO YOU
LOOK FOR
INSPIRATION?

STEVIE: All the women of comedy: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Kristen Wiig. I also love absurd humor, so Wes Anderson films inspire the crap out of me too.

MILANA: Stevie. I bubble with ideas when I’m around her. And Sammi, our editor. She’s a fucking powerhouse.

IS THERE
ANYONE FAMOUS
YOU’D LIKE
TO WORK WITH
AND WHY?

STEVIE: YES. I’d love to be in a Wes Anderson film. I could die a happy woman after that. He is a genius.

MILANA: Yeah, there’s a ton of them. Too many to list. Until then, I’m really stoked to be working with the people that are soon-to-be famous. The geniuses that hang around the improv theaters in LA and the young fools pounding away at their computers all day long. I’m stoked to be working with them.

IF YOU
COULD
LIVE/WORK
ANYWHERE
IN THE
WORLD,
WHERE
WOULD
IT BE ?

STEVIE: Weirdly, I’d love to live and work in Texas for a while. I have a lot of family there and I just love cowboys and country music.

MILANA: LA is home. My family is here and I don’t think I’d ever leave them. I feel really lucky that I didn’t have to move away to pursue these entertainment shenanigans. That being said, I would love to spend some time in Portland, Oregon. The people, music, food, people, weather, nature, and people. I love it there. Also, New York is pretty amazing. I have some friends that have let me mooch off their apartments while I’m there and I will continue to do so until I can afford to have a place everywhere. Like Diddy.

WHAT
WAS YOUR
FIRST
NON-ART
JOB?

STEVIE: I worked at American Eagle Outfitters in Palmdale when I was 15. I wanted to work the second I was able to. I hope I never have to work a job like that again.

MILANA: I would like to think of all of my jobs as “art jobs”. Ugh. Shoot me. Now. I deserve it…. Babysitting. I started babysitting my neighbors’ kids before I should have been trusted with anyone’s child. I still can’t be trusted.

WHAT
KEEPS YOU UP
AT NIGHT?

STEVIE: Nothing, I sleep like a baby through the night. Sometimes Friday Night Lights keeps me up at night, but it’s only because I choose to watch it instead of falling asleep.

MILANA: Sunset Boulevard. And dicks poking me in the back. So many dicks.

WHAT
GETS YOU UP
IN THE
MORNING ?

STEVIE: I’ve always been a morning person, so I wake up around 7am or 8am for no real reason except that I like to be awake in the morning. I make myself coffee, breakfast, and sit with my dogs.

MILANA: No, joke. I have a little fairy that I’ve hung by my bed with a Pablo Picasso quote on it. “I don’t know what inspiration is, but when it comes, I hope it finds me working.” So I start working hoping inspiration comes.

DESCRIBE
YOUR WORK
IN
THREE
WORDS.

STEVIE: Awkward, uncomfortable, and creative.

MILANA: You Love Me?

IF THERE WERE
A MOVIE
OF YOUR LIFE,
WHO WOULD
WRITE, DIRECT,
AND STAR
IN IT ?

STEVIE: Wes Anderson, Director: Wes Anderson, Star: Kiernan Shipka = Best. Movie. EVER.

MILANA: The real question is who the fuck would want to watch it?! Umm…okay. Written by Ronald Harwood. Directed by Judd Apatow. Starring Noël Wells (oh, you don’t know who that is? Look it up pronto. One of my besties.)
