Natali (Del Conte) Morris | Tech Personality | Stated Magazine Profile

By Jimmy Aquino, Pop Culture Contributing Editor

Natali Morris (formerly Natali Del Conte) grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and always had an interest in technology. In a former life, she had fun as a yoga instructor but has since worked steadily in media with an emphasis on technology for the past eight years. She wrote, produced, and hosted the popular show Textra on the Mevio network before moving to New York City to be a news anchor for CNET TV and a technology contributor for CBS News. Currently, she is a technology contributor for CNBC, part-time mommy blogger, and podcast host on Mommy Beta and The Trending Show on Grizzly Productions. Her biggest project right now is giving birth to her second child, who is due any day now.

WHAT
INFLUENCES

Reading. I read a lot. Books, newspapers, blogs.

OF WHAT PROJECTS
ARE YOU
MOST
PROUD?

I’m proud of most things I do. I rarely watch videos of my work but when I do, I am usually surprised that I had the gumption to do those kinds of things. I don’t know where it comes from to be honest. I just somehow get it done.

WHAT’S
YOUR
DREAM
PROJECT?

I’d rather keep that to myself.

TO WHOM
DO YOU
LOOK FOR
INSPIRATION?

My husband Clayton. He is so good at what he does yet he is always trying to challenge himself in new ways. He’s a pro in the business of television but he doesn’t rest on his laurels. He is always looking for new projects, new ways to contribute, new ways to succeed. He’s tireless yet he still finds it in himself to be an amazing family man. I don’t know where I found this fool and how he ended up married to me!

IS THERE
ANYONE FAMOUS
YOU’D LIKE
TO WORK WITH
AND WHY?

Rachel Maddow. I just think she’s brilliant. I have had professional crushes in my life on Leslie Stahl and now Rachel Maddow. I think Maddow is the front-runner by a long shot now. She is just so accomplished and well spoken and has a good attitude about herself. She is a lot of who I want to be on camera and off.

IF YOU
COULD
LIVE/WORK
ANYWHERE
IN THE
WORLD,
WHERE
WOULD
IT BE ?

Oh, I think it would be fun to live and work in England for a short time but not permanently. I’m pretty happy where I am. Although someday I do dream of moving my family back to the Bay Area near my family. Oh, to have my mom to babysit for me 24/7! That would be amazing!

WHAT
KEEPS YOU UP
AT NIGHT?

Nothing. I’m asleep by 9pm every night. If there were something I would dwell on, I would do it during daylight hours. At night, I sleep. I’ve always been pretty disciplined by that.

WHAT
GETS YOU UP
IN THE
MORNING ?

My son. He gets up right around 6am, which is when I wake up anyway. If you’re asking about inspiration, well the answer is still my son. And my husband. My family is what inspires me but that wasn’t always the case. And I do get nostalgic for a time when I could work tirelessly when there was no family waiting on me. I have a lot of goals that I’ve put on hold or have had to work on more slowly than I would have otherwise because of the family, but I still have a lot of things I want to accomplish in my career before I hang up the towel.

IF THERE WERE
A MOVIE
OF YOUR LIFE,
WHO WOULD
WRITE, DIRECT,
AND STAR
IN IT ?

Write: Me, of course.
Direct: I don’t know movie directors. Jim Henson?
Star: Sharon Vaknin. She reminds me so much of myself five years ago. She’s one to keep an eye on. She’s not an actress but she could be!
