Profile: Actor / Playwright Jon Hoche Brings Comics to the Stage

				By Jimmy Aquino, Pop Culture Contributing Editor Jon Hoche moved from the wilds of the Garden State to the mean streets of New York City to pursue his acting career. Besides acting, he recently became Artistic Associate for the well-respected Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company, receiving rave reviews for his performances in their critically acclaimed The Inexplicable Redemption of Agent G, as well as Soul Samurai and the award—winning Fight Girl Battle World. He is a comic book / sci-fi geek and frequently guest co-hosts the popular podcast Comic News Insider. An accomplished stage fighter, he also holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a brown belt to hold up his pants.
	BEING AN ARTIST IS…?			The greatest job in the world.
	WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?			I’m currently in rehearsals for the First National Tour of War Horse as one of the lead puppeteers. The tour opens in LA in June and will tour 20 major U.S. cities. I’m also wrapping up filming a web series called I Hate Earth, which will debut online in late May.
	WHAT INFLUENCES YOUR WORK?			Movies, comic books, animation, manga, and video games all really influence my writing. My overly active imagination really influences my acting.
	OF WHAT PROJECT ARE YOU MOST PROUD?			I am most proud of a play I wrote, directed, produced, and acted in titled Galactic Girl in: Attack of the Starbariansfor the Comic Book Theater Festival in Brooklyn, NY. It was embraced by the public and critics and had a sold-out run. My girlfriend starred in it and I proposed to her on closing night in front of everyone after the final bow. We were also invited to perform at the 2011 New York Comic Con.

	WHAT’S YOUR DREAM PROJECT?			To star in a successful action adventure television series with possible movie spin offs.

	TO WHOM DO YOU LOOK FOR INSPIRATION?			My family, friends, and especially my fiancée inspire me.

	IS THERE ANYONE FAMOUS YOU WOULD LIKE TO WORK WITH AND WHY?			I want to be in an action movie alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Hopefully playing brothers. I was a huge fan of him in the WWE and I’m a big fan of his action movies.
	IF YOU COULD LIVE/WORK ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE ?			There’s no place like New York City.
	WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?			Selling hot dogs and Italian ice at a flea market.
	WHAT KEEPS YOU UP AT NIGHT?			I sleep pretty soundly now-a-days.
	WHAT GETS YOU UP IN THE MORNING ?			The excitement of getting to go to rehearsal or a performance.
	DESCRIBE YOUR WORK IN THREE WORDS.			Kinetic, moving, diverse.
	IF THERE WERE A MOVIE OF YOUR LIFE, WHO WOULD WRITE, DIRECT, AND STAR IN IT ?			I’m not sure who would star in it, but it would be interesting to see what Edgar Wright would do with “The Jon Hoche Story”.
