SITE OF THE DAY: "Booooooom" Spells Creativity with Seven O's

At “Booooooom,” Vancouver artist Jeff Hamada has taken what began as a humble art blog and nurtured it to become one of the most heavily-trafficked sites of its type. “Booooooom” features a steady flow of art, design, film, music, and photography, with anything in-between, such as ongoing giveaways, found in the “Junk” feed. In the “Projects” section, you’ll find interesting series such as the “Remake” student contest, a partnership with Adobe to reward the best user-submitted recreations of famous works of art. Check it out at www.booooooom.com.

SITE OF THE DAY: "The World's Best Ever" Serves a Stew of Crazy

“The World’s Best Ever” is nutty. Underneath its fairly staid apparence hides a schizo heart and soul that’s unafraid to offer an opinion. You simply never know what you might find, but it’s almost always intriguing. Whether it’s the latest viral video (or not-so-viral video…), quick profiles of artists (and their favorite places to eat), or a slideshow collection of girls on bikes, one can’t accuse the site of offering anything less than a truly curious assortment of content.

Take a look at www.theworldsbestever.com.

SITE OF THE DAY: "Arrested Motion" Details the Latest from the World of Art

A Faulkner quote greeting visitors to “Arrested Motion” reads: “The aim of every artist is to arrest motion.” The quote is apt not only for the work of any artist, but as a description for the site in its presention of a digestible snapshot of the art world. It’s a fairly comprehensive run-down, reporting the latest openings and showings, as well as a nice assortment of studio visits, interviews, and other features. We were sucked in by their recent Q&A with Chet Zar about his “Faces of Death” show. If all of that isn’t enough, their thorough events calendar alone is worth a bookmark.

Plug-in and discover something new at “Arrested Motion.”

SITE OF THE DAY: "Feature Shoot" Showcases Photography from around the World

Feature Shoot

At Feature Shoot, photographer/editor/curator Alison Zavos features a steady flow of international photography. With work from “up-and-coming photographers alongside established photographers who have completed a project or whose work has taken on a new direction”, there’s something for every taste—both commercial and artistic. The site also features various series and categories, including “Theme Friday,” which pulls together different themed collections from abandoned swimming pools to watermelon (interesting, for sure).

Kick off your weekend with Feature Shoot.
