MUSIC: Busdriver at Santos Party House, NYC

Get a call the other day from Scott Chappell, “Hey you want to see this guy Busdriver?” It’s a Wednesday night. Why the hell not. I’ll bring Dave. (Dave English, Photographer)
I have to say I was blown away. Regan Farquhar, AKA Busdriver, began rapping at age nine, releasing his first record at age 13 with his group, 4/29, named after the 1992 L.A. Riots. He hasn’t stopped since. This music I heard the other night was diverse, entertaining, and fast. Busdriver was spitting like an M-16.
Playing a bunch of tracks from Beaus$Eros, his latest effort. I am told a bit different from past albums. A bit more downbeat with some amazing dubstep thrown in the mix. Loden produced the album. One of my favorites of the night was Bon Bon Fire. Very addictive, even had a tough NYC crowd bopping and some, for God’s sakes, were dancing. Yes, I saw it with my own two eyes.
So I am now a fan. Like the 773 from downtown L.A. to Venice Beach, Busdriver has plenty of variety for anyone who’s looking for a ride.
