FWA (Favourite Website Awards), which describes itself as the “most visited website award program in the history of the Internet, with over 140 million site visits as of July 2011,” highlights a different site each day as “Site of the Day,” from which it selects one as “Site of the Month.” From those featured twelve, one is chosen each year by the public for the People’s Choice Award and one is named Site of the Year by a panel of industry experts. FWA is an incredible collection of the web’s most creative sites and a great addition to your bookmarks.
New Zealand Animator Ned Wenlock has created a gorgeous, atmospheric world for MGMT’s cover of Bauhaus’ “All We Ever Wanted Was Everything,” from the band’s Late Night Tales release. We defy you not to get lost in the endlessly unfurling world of “construction paper” layers.
If you need a little inspiration, look no further than the iconic title designs of Saul Bass, who was responsible for titles for some of the 20th Century’s most famous and recognizable films, including North by Northwest, Vertigo, West Side Story, and even Goodfellas and Casino. This video, edited by Ian Albinson, was created to celebrate the release of Jennifer Bass and Pat Kirkman’s Saul Bass: A Life in Film & Design. It’s hard to imagine these films with any other design.
